Background: The project continues the City’s efforts to upgrade and improve the aging infrastructure.   The traffic signal improvements at these intersections enhances pedestrian safety and visibility for motorists, and upgrades the existing signal components to meet modern public works standards.

Work

Upgrades included the installation of additional signal heads, the upsize of the 8-inch signal heads to 12-inch signal heads, pedestrian signal heads and push buttons upgrades, the replacement of high-pressure sodium overhead safety lights  with energy efficient LED overhead safety lights , the installation of new safety light poles and/or new mast arm poles to support new signal heads or replace aging components, and the replacement of overhead street name signs with high visibility, reflective street name signs.  A protected left-turn phase was added for the Foster Rd intersection. The upgrades improve the safety and the efficiency of the intersections.

Improvements included upgrades to the traffic signals located at the intersections of Santa Gertrudes Ave at Adelfa Dr, Alicante Rd, Foster Rd and Olive Branch Dr.
