On January 26, 2016 the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 681 and Ordinance No. 682 establishing new regulations for Massage Establishments.
Ordinance No. 681 provides new minimum standards for the operation of Massage Establishments, their managing employees, and massage therapists and practitioners. These new regulations are permitted under the authority of Government Code §§ 51030 through 51034, Government Code § 37101, Business and Professions Code § 16000, and the California Constitution Article XI, Section 7.
Ordinance No. 682 established new areas in which Massage Establishments will be permitted to locate and requires that Massage Establishments obtain a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) in order to operate in the City of La Mirada. The requirement to obtain a CUP will only be imposed on new Massage Establishments seeking to locate within the City. Existing Massage Establishments will not be required to obtain a CUP provided they continue to operate in their current location and do not expand the use or operations.
Applications for a Massage Establishment Permit may be obtained by visiting La Mirada City Hall located at 13700 La Mirada Boulevard or by clicking here. An application fee of $275 must be paid upon submittal of a completed application.
