Public Safety Officers
Public Safety Officers (PSOs) are City employees who are trained to provide support to the Sheriff's Department. PSOs assist the public with various safety and nuisance-related issues. They also enforce parking regulations, uphold the Municipal Code, write non-hazardous criminal reports and non-injury traffic collision reports. Many of our PSOs are latent fingerprint trained and will respond to crime scenes to collect evidence for the Sheriff's Department Crime Lab. The PSOs promote safety awareness, educate students at local schools and provide a safe environment at parks. Public Safety Assistants (PSAs) provide assistance in the La Mirada Community Sheriff's Station by answering questions, writing non-hazardous reports, and inputting calls for service. Non-hazardous incidents include forgeries, identity thefts, vandalisms, and burglaries.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department provides law enforcement patrol, traffic enforcement, and crime investigation for the City of La Mirada. To report an emergency call 9-1-1.
