La Mirada introduces Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness (NEP) Program

You’re ready for a disaster, what about your neighbors?

Creating a neighborhood disaster preparedness plan can safeguard your family, neighbors, and property, while strengthening and unifying your neighborhood.

The City of La Mirada is excited to introduce the Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness (NEP) Program. The purpose of NEP is to organize and educate neighborhoods to increase their level of preparedness to handle all types of emergency incidents. The project uses a community approach to engage and mobilize small neighborhood teams to be self-sufficient following an emergency or large-scale disaster.

La Mirada NEP will train residents how to develop and implement a neighborhood emergency plan to help deal with the aftermath of a variety of emergencies and disasters, such as earthquakes, fires, and blackouts.

For more information or to schedule a NEP meeting in your neighborhood, contact the La Mirada Community Sheriff’s Station at (562) 902-2986.
