The La Mirada Library is operated by the LA County Library system.  The library integrates many services that distinguish it as a reliable source of information such as educational programs for all ages, reference, and digital resources.

The following is a sample of the wealth of resources the library has to offer.

  • LibraryCollection:  In addition to books and DVDs, the library also circulates CA State Parks Passes, Laptop and Hotspot Kits, and Board Games.  La Mirada Library subscribes to a wide array of newspapers such as the LA Times, Whittier Daily News, Orange County Register, The Korea Times (Korean), and World Journal (Chinese).
  • Computer Workstations: Public access to assorted software programs for use on the library's computers. Designated stations for adults (10), children (5), and teens (4).

Patrons may print up to 10 free pages a day, $0.15/page thereafter.

WiFi is available in the library and surrounding parking lots.

  • Programs:  Includes in-person programs for children (e.g., storytime, bookmark contest, and summer discovery programs) as well as programs for teens and adults (e.g., monthly book club).  Virtual programs are also offered.
  • Databases and Digital Resources:

Libby and Hoopla:  Read eBooks and listen to audiobooks on your phone, Kindle, or computer.

Brainfuse:  Live online tutoring, resume assistance, and interview prep.

Mango Languages:  Self-paced language courses for all ages in over 70 languages.

Kanopy:  Stream independent, international, classic, and documentary films.

ABC Mouse:  Over 10,000 learning activities for ages 2-8.

LinkedIn Learning:  Instructional videos from industry experts covering software, creative, and business skills.

Career Online High School:  Earn an accredited high school diploma for free online in just 18 months or less.  Self-paced program for adults 19+.

Learning Express:  Access practice tests and tutorials for college entrance, civil service, and citizenship exams.

Additional Research Databases:  From biography to business and language to legal.

  • Study and Meeting Rooms:  The Library offers two study rooms (accommodating up to six people each).  These can be reserved up to one week in advance.  The meeting room (accommodating up to 74 people) is available for rent. 
  • Children's Services: Includes story-times, class visits to the library, bookmark contest, and summer reading programs.
  • Metro TAP:  TAP cards may be purchased and reloaded.
  • Friends of the Library:  501 (c)(3) nonprofit association of community-minded individuals committed to focusing public attention on the library's services and to encouraging gifts and donations in support of the Library.
