Background: The project continued the City’s efforts to upgrade and improve the aging infrastructure. The traffic signal improvements at these intersections enhances pedestrian safety and visibility for motorists, and upgrades the existing signal components to meet modern public works standards.
Work
Upgrades included the installation of additional signal heads, increased the 8-inch signal heads to 12-inch signal heads, upgraded pedestrian signal heads and push buttons, replaced high-pressure sodium overhead safety lights with energy efficient LED overhead safety lights, installed new safety light poles and/or new mast arm poles to support new signal heads or replace aging components, and replaced overhead street name signs with high visibility, reflective street name signs. The upgrades improved the safety and the efficiency of the intersections.
Project Area
Improvements included upgrades to the traffic signals located at the intersections of Rosecrans Avenue at Biola Avenue, Figueras Road, Jalon Road, Adelfa Drive, Santa Gertrudes Avenue and Mercado Avenue.
