Background: The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts is planning to transform its under-utilized upper lounge into a cabaret and jazz lounge which will also serve as a venue for various other forms of entertainment, including stand-up comedy, folk music, and film screenings. The overall capacity is anticipated to be 73 people seated at cafe tables, bar stools, and small sofas. In 2020, the Theatre engaged a designer to create concept drawings and a specific list of equipment and furnishings. Subsequently, in 2021, the Theatre engaged a theatrical lighting design consultant and an architect to finalize plans and designs while ensuring compliance with all applicable building codes. These architectural plans were drafted and submitted to staff in December 2022.

Work

Upgrades included redecoration of walls and ceilings, the installation of a new lighting grid and necessary electrical upgrades in compliance with all required County building regulations.
