The Disaster Preparedness Steering Committee (DPSC) is an emergency preparedness network consisting of representatives from the City of La Mirada, the Los Angeles County Sheriff and Fire Departments, American Red Cross, the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District, volunteer radio communications group (HAM Watch), the medical community, clergy, residential groups, and representatives from both small and major La Mirada businesses.

The primary objective of the committee is to encourage emergency preparedness and to assist in the coordination of La Mirada’s annual disaster drills. In the past, the DPSC has successfully coordinated large-scale drills and has been recognized by the Emergency Preparedness Commission of Los Angeles County and the Southern California Emergency Services Association.

The City of La Mirada hosts regular conferences for DPSC members to discuss upcoming preparedness events and efforts.
