Adopted Housing Element - Housing Plan
The City of La Mirada officially adopted the Housing Element – 6th Cycle – for the years 2021-2029 on March 12, 2024. Currently, efforts are underway to implement this document, focusing on overarching housing programs centered around the following key themes:
Outreach and Education: The La Mirada Housing for All initiative represents a comprehensive outreach and educational endeavor designed to actively engage, educate, and inform both the La Mirada community and the wider region. This initiative will persist throughout the entire housing element 6th cycle, fostering ongoing housing conversations.
Streamline and Update Policies and Procedures: Efforts to streamline and update City policies and procedures are crucial for removing barriers to housing development. This includes the rezone of sites as outlined in the Rezone Program, aiming to create a more efficient and conducive environment for housing development.
Community Character: Preserving the distinctive character of the community is paramount as the City explores the addition of new housing types and densities. Two key policy documents, the Residential Objective Design Standards and the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance, will be tailored to specifically address the needs of La Mirada, ensuring that any new developments are in harmony with the existing community fabric.
