SPECIAL ELECTION
Andrew Sarega resigned from the City Council effective May 8, 2024. As a result, a special election will be held for District 2 on November 5, 2024 to fill the unexpired term through June 2026.The nomination period ended on August 9 at 5 p.m. The qualified candidates listed in alphabetical order are the following:

GENERAL ELECTION NOVEMBER 5, 2024
As we approach the upcoming General Election, it is important for every voter to have access to the necessary resources for casting their vote and staying informed about the election process. For any questions or concerns related to voter registration, mail-in voting, vote centers, and ballot drop boxes, please email RR/CC at voterinfo@rrcc.lacounty.gov. RR/CC representatives actively monitor this email address and strive to provide prompt responses.
VOTE CENTERS AND EARLY BALLOT DROP-OFF LOCATIONS
24-HOUR SECURE BALLOT DROP-OFF BOXES
The La Mirada Library, located at 13800 La Mirada Boulevard and Windermere Park, located at 15261 Cheshire Street, are hosting an official ballot drop-off boxes from October 5, 2024 through November 5, 2024 (Election Day). Voters could return their ballots to either drop-box 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
VOTE CENTER
Recruitment and selection of the Vote Center location in the City is underway. A list of location(s) will be made available 30-40 days before Election Day.

The district map was adopted by the City Council at its meeting on November 23, 2021.

DISTRICT ELECTION INFORMATION
Districts 1 and 2
The General Municipal Election for Districts 1 and 2 will be held in June 2026.
District 3
The General Municipal Election for District 3 was held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Ed Eng was elected to serve as the District 3 Councilmember.
Districts 4 and 5
At the close of the nomination period on December 8, 2023, there was only one candidate for Districts 4 and 5. Only one resident, Steve De Ruse, submitted nomination papers to qualify as a District 4 candidate and only one resident, Anthony A. Otero, submitted nomination papers to qualify as a District 5 candidate.
At the Special Meeting on December 19, 2023, the City Council appointed Steve De Ruse as a Member of the City Council representing District 4 for a four-year term and appointed Anthony A. Otero as a Member of the City Council representing District 5 for a four-year term. The election scheduled to be held on March 5 for Districts 4 and 5 was canceled.
