La Mirada Boulevard and Alondra Boulevard Intersection Improvements

Print

Construction Starts:  July 2017

Construction Ends:  September 2017

Funding Source: General Fund

Budget: $169,306

Background:  The intersection of Alondra Boulevard and La Mirada Boulevard is in need of traffic signal and alignment modifications to enhance pedestrian and vehicle safety and traffic signal operations. The angle of the Alondra Boulevard and La Mirada Boulevard intersection combined with the position of the raised median islands has contributed to the inefficiency of the traffic signal operations.  There have been several vehicle collisions in the past two years at or near this intersection.  Additionally, significant delays are common during morning and afternoon peak travel times

Work

The project includes intersection improvements which will include the removal of the island on northwest corner, narrowing of the island on the southeast corner, reducing the length of the median nose on the northerly leg, and traffic signal improvements including upgraded signal lights, overhead LED energy efficient safety lights, and pedestrian crossing indicators.  The improvements will provide enhanced pedestrian and motorist safety, and will improve traffic flow through the intersection.
