Escalona Elementary Recognized as a 2018 California Distinguished School
The La Mirada City Council presented Principal Bonnie Lytle of Escalona Elementary School with a Certificate of Recognition for their recent selection as a 2018 California Distinguished Schools. The presentation was made at the City Council meeting held on May 22. Escalona Elementary School is one of 287 schools across the state to earn the prestigious distinction.
“The City of La Mirada is extremely proud of the talented teachers, dedicated staff and administrators, who provide a great educational curriculum for the students of this community,” says Mayor Larry Mowles.
The California Distinguished Schools Program recognizes the most exemplary schools in the state. Eligibility for distinguished schools was based on the school’s performance and progress on the state indicators as described on the California School Dashboard (Dashboard). Indicators included test scores, suspension rates, and English-learner progress.
