Desiree Johnson Appointed to La Mirada Public Safety Commission
The City Council recently appointed Desiree Johnson to the Public Safety Commission. Ms. Johnson has been a La Mirada resident since 2005, and she is a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy. She has volunteered her services in the community for a number of years. Ms. Johnson was interviewed by the City Council at its Study Session meeting on September 12, and formally appointed on September 26.
The City’s advisory bodies serve as an important part of the City’s policy-making process. Advisory body members are appointed by the City Council and are responsible for performing studies on municipal issues and rendering opinions and advice to the City Council, as well as providing input on community goals. La Mirada has seven advisory bodies including the Community Services Commission, Planning Commission, Public Safety Commission, Historical Preservation Advisory Council, Senior Council, Youth Council, and the La Mirada Community Foundation.
