With the current heat wave and summer season upon us, the City of La Mirada is reminding residents that the La Mirada Activity Center and the La Mirada Library are designated cooling facilities.
Residents are advised to take precautions and protect themselves from the sun and heat during the warm summer months. The Activity Center is located at 13810 La Mirada Blvd. and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The La Mirada Library is located at 13800 La Mirada Blvd. and is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on Sunday and Monday.
Residents are also encouraged to cool off at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center, which offers a variety of water activities for all ages. Splash! is located at 13806 La Mirada Blvd. and is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Those planning to be outdoors should follow these tips:

- Wear a wide-brimmed hat and light colored, loose-fitting clothing.
- Use sunscreen.
- Drink plenty of fluids.
- Make sure pets have plenty of water and shade.
