Volunteers in Action Serve La Mirada Community
Thousands of hours of service are provided to the community by participants in the City of La Mirada’s Volunteers in Action program. Volunteers assist in a number of City facilities and City programs to expand and enhance the services provided to local residents.
Volunteer positions range from assisting at community events, coaching youth sports, assisting with Senior Net, working with young children in reading class, and serving as a theatre usher. Residents can also volunteer their time to assist elderly, disabled, and other residents with home maintenance needs through the Helping Hands Program.
Volunteering is an excellent way to give back to the community, earn required community service credit for school, and have fun at the same time! Prior to starting, volunteers will complete a process, which includes an application, interview, fingerprinting, and orientation.
“The Volunteers in Action program is a great way to get involved in the community,” says Community Services Director Lori Thompson. “La Mirada is fortunate to have so many volunteers who give their time to positively impact our community.”
